SpatialChat

SpatialChat is a virtual platform that mimics real-world interactions with spatial audio and private chat areas, enabling immersive meetings, collaboration, and networking.

About Project

In my previous company, there were about 60 employees, including 5 members in the design team. This team consisted of a design lead, a graphic designer, and three product designers.

Create Private Areas

Problems

· Audio Overlap: Users near the borders of multiple private areas might hear conversations from both, leading to potential confusion and distraction.
· Deletion Authority:
Only the owner can delete a private area, which becomes an issue if the owner is unavailable or has left the platform, preventing others from removing it.

Goals

· Enhance User Experience: Enrich user experience by providing focused private spaces.
· Boost Engagement:
Increase platform engagement through private discussions.
· Promote New Team Plan:
Encourage the adoption of the new Team plan.

Process

Research

The decision to add private areas to SpatialChat as part of the new Team plan was made based on several factors, including user feedback and testing, technical feasibility, and competitive analysis. SpatialChat conducted user surveys and focus groups to gauge user interest in the feature, and tested several prototypes to ensure that the feature worked seamlessly on all devices and operating systems.

Competitive analysis of private areas

Additionally, competitive analysis showed that other virtual event platforms were already offering similar features, making it important for SpatialChat to offer private areas as part of its new Team plan to remain competitive.
